Performing Data in Australasia
Theatre Programme, Victoria University of Wellington
This project is a collaboration between Theatre Aotearoa and AusStage that aims to bring together researchers and artists from Aotearoa and Australia who are interested in utilising data from these live performing arts databases and to support them to develop skills in data analysis through visualisation. We invite you to an online series of seminars exploring approaches to these topics:
- Data as performance – how we embody data in performance and use source material in creative practice
- Data as dramaturgy – how we use data to represent creative process, concept maps and character relations.
- Data as documentation - how we record information in documenting and archiving live performance.
- Data as flow - how we follow the distribution of performance in space using maps of venues, touring and events.
- Data as genealogy – whakapapa – how we trace lines of influence from artist to artist through performance over time.
