Biological media embed intrinsic complexity due to a multitude of factors, from the several elements involved to their different functions. Current knowledge, derived from advanced experimental-based models, still faces predictability and reliability issues limiting our ability to prevent the onset and evolution of pathologies. The present talk will run over a series of biomechanical models developed for soft active tissues, highlighting the remaining challenges and proposing possible routes for their investigation.
