Carbon fibre was proven to be the main contributor in increasing the performance of the racing bicycle, especially in the highest level of competition like the Olympic Games. To develop an Olympic gold medal winning bicycle frame, several different inputs are necessary. These range from anthropometric data, force and power measurements, material properties, aerodynamic simulations, available compatible components and many others.
This lecture will look back on the successful development of the frame for the British Cycling team that culminated with the London Olympics.
