This seminar will give an overview of Exemplar Platform 3 (EP3) of the 12 Labours project: Control of organ function by the autonomic nervous system. EP3 seeks to leverage upon preliminary work previously conducted at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute in the Gastrointestinal Motility and Placental Health research groups. In particular, we will present work conducted to date, and planned future work, on mathematical modelling and measurement of intrinsic electrical activity in the stomach and uterus, and its response to external electrical stimulii, homonal changes, and the autonomic nervous system.
