This presentation will give an overview of the challenges facing the global dairy processing industry in their treatment of wastewater streams. It will then focus on some technologies that can be used to reduce both the water and energy footprint of the industry. The topics covered will include the removal of lactic acid from acid whey, the generation of cleaning chemicals from salty whey and the use of membrane distillation for water recovery.
