Article of record

In this presentation, I will outline a simple, idealized model of the land surface that was used in a recent paper to understand observed decadal soil moisture trends from satellites and ground probe observations. The different processes contributing to long-term trends will be discussed, as will the implications of the results for understanding how long-term climate change will influence the land surface.
