Dialysis Academy 2023

Dialysis Academy 2023

Dialysis Group

At Imperial College we care for 5% of the United Kingdom population treated with dialysis, with 6 people starting treatment each week. Mortality, suffering and experience within this group determine the challenges to be met by this Academy. Our patients have described the gap between aspiration and experience which we must bridge.

We will use relevant data, evidence and experience to educate and inspire. Registration is free to allow access for as many as possible to attend.

We are well placed with stellar speakers at this year's Academy to discuss:

  • Kidney Health for All - in emerging and supporting centres
  • Patient Physiotherapy
  • Vascular Access - from radiological, surgical and nursing perspectives
  • Chronic kidney disease and metabolic bone disease in young and adult patients on dialysis
  • Home Therapy - how to grow a programme, make it accessible and demonstrate its benefits
  • Renal Anaemia - and the role of therapeutic iron

We welcome medics, nurses, pharmacists and therapists to join as committed delegates in our interactive sessions from Imperial College, and also all other NHS Trusts in the UK and colleagues form across the World.

Venue

The event will be held both online and in-person. The in-person location for the Dialysis Academy (9th March 2023 - 10th March 2023) will be:

World Kidney Day

We are having the event to coincide with the World Kidney Day (9th of March). World Kidney Day is a global campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys.

All across the globe many hundred events take place from public screenings in Argentina to Zumba marathons in Malaysia. We do it all to create awareness. Awareness about preventive behaviors, awareness about risk factors, and awareness about how to live with a kidney disease. We do this because we want kidney health for all. The Dialysis Academy 2023 is timed to start with World Kidney Day 9th March 2023 and runs for two days in collaboration with our International Sister Renal Centre the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital in Sri Lanka and with faculty from across the UK and the World

World Kidney Day is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations – World Kidney Alliance (IFKF-WKA).

AstraZeneca have supported the subsistence for the meeting and will have an exhibition stand present.
