Accounting for Carbon

Stephen has had a varied career, starting with studying accounting at the University of Chicago after being drafted into the army for two years. He then went on to complete his MBA and PhD at the same university. Following this, he moved to Berkeley in 1977 and later to Colombia in 1999. Stephen has also been associated with Bocconi University and has written several books on value accounting. He is the founding editor of the Review of Accounting Studies and has been recognized for his contributions to the field by being elected to the accounting Hall of Fame in both the US and Australia. Stephen's current research focuses on accounting for carbon emissions, which he will discuss in his presentation. He acknowledges that this is not his area of expertise and welcomes any corrections or insights from the audience. He then proceeds to outline the structure of his presentation and the key attributes of the accounting approach he will discuss.
